Understanding & Improving Land Health

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
 (Pre-requisite: Introduction to Holistic Management)

In this course you will deepen your skills in how to identify signs for an effective and ineffective water cycle, mineral cycle, and energy flow as well as the effectiveness of the community dynamics in play on a variety of landscapes. You will also learn the basics of plant identification. You will also learn how to collect data for ongoing research and land management as well as how to analyze that data and develop recommendations for improved management.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. How to determine effectiveness of water cycle
2. How to determine effectiveness of mineral cycle
3. How to determine effectiveness of energy flow
4. How to determine effectiveness of community dynamics
5. How to determine brittleness
6. How to determine effect of management tools on environment
7. How to set up, perform, and analyze a basic monitoring transect
8. How to set up, perform, and analyze a comprehensive monitoring transect
9. How to make recommendations based on monitoring transects
