Mark your calendar for April 15, 2010, from 8:30am to 4:30pm in Nazareth, Texas to get specific training in planning your ranching business to restore ranch productivity and profitability by: · Defining a goal that includes people, money, animals, and land health. · Incorporating CRP pasture land into the management unit · Managing rainfall capture, soil erosion and natural fertility · Coordinating CRP with rangeland and wildlife management · Financial planning to structure a profit · Keeping management flexible Dr. Richard Teague is Professor & Associate Resident Director, Texas AgriLife Research in Vernon, TX. He grew up and earned his degrees in Zimbabwe, Africa; resulting in practical and research experience in grazing management systems, brush control with fire and chemicals on semi-arid rangeland in Africa and North America. Teague uses a systems approach in developing land and livestock management practices that sustain natural rangeland resources and the people depending on the land. His goals are to (1) broaden the understanding of requirements needed to sustain rangeland resources and economic viability, and (2) generate science-based information to allow producers to improve management practices on rangeland.
